I did mine pretty well on my first try. The tricks are to use a canvas for what you do it on, hot glue the crayons onto the board and then do it slowly with a hair drier. Don't melt all of it at once, do it back and forth. this prevents it both from coming out in gloopy fashions and helps to give it a lot of depth and layers as the different colors drip over and dry on other colors. You can also turn the canvas different ways to make them run into each other or blend how you want. It take a lot of patience and time but the finished product comes out pretty nice.

though when you get to the point where your almost emptying the crayon out the last bit of it tends to come out in a chunk of unmelted crayon that can be unsightly if you don't manage to fix it. o.o That's how I managed to do mine atleast.
